Prof. Bistaraki main areas of research work are mass gatherings, public health and disaster management.
Professional experience
She has worked for 20 years as a Clinical Nurse (Operating Theatres) at the Army Share Fund Hospital in Athens, Greece among which she served as Deputy Manager for 10 years. In March 2020, she was appointed as a Crisis Management Advisor to the Greek Deputy Minister of Civil Protection and Crisis Management. Since February 2021, she is an Associate Professor in the Department of Nursing at the Hellenic Mediterranean University with a secondment to the Greek Ministry of Digital Governance as a Consultant in Disaster Management.
Education
Angeliki Bistaraki is a graduate of the Department of Nursing of the University of West Attica and the National Kapodistrian University of Athens, and she graduated 1st in the ranking from both universities. She completed her Master studies (MSc) at City, University of London with the subject "Interprofessional Practice-Civil Emergency Management" having gained a scholarship from the Leventis Foundation and she graduated with honors. At the same University in London, she completed her doctoral studies focusing on "Interagency Collaboration in Mass Gatherings: The Case of Public Health and Safety Organizations in the 2012 London Olympic Games". With a scholarship from the Research Committee (ELKE), she conducted a postdoctoral research entitled " Interagency collaboration among health and safety services in mass sporting events: the case of the Athens Marathon" at the University of Peloponnese.
