Patrizia Isabelle Duda is a Minerva Postdoctoral Scientist (Max Planck Society) conducting research at University College London (UCL), UK, and Tel Aviv University, Israel. She is continuing her research on Informal Disaster Governance and its operationalisation. She is also working on a new project relating to Space (Health) Risks and Disasters (see: https://www.ucl.ac.uk/risk-disaster-reduction/space-health-risks-researc...).

 

Professional experience

 

Before shifting to disaster management and science, Patrizia spent over 15 years working and conducting academic research in business management and international security and counter-terrorism, notably with Booz Allen Hamilton, IBM, the Institute for National Security Studies (INSS), IDC Herzliya, the German-Israeli Chamber of Commerce, the Israeli Ministry of Health, The World Bank, IsraAID, and various start-ups.

Today, she still works as a consultant for corporate and non-governmental clients, particularly on questions relating to sustainability. Notable clients include the Financial Times, Google, Tesla, and the WorldBank.

Patrizia is further affiliated with the World Association for Emergency and Disaster Medicine (WADEM), The Chief of Staff Association, the UK Polar Network (UKPN), YANA (Yale Alumni Nonprofit Alliance), and she is the founder of ADECA (Arctic Disaster Early Career Association) and a co-founder of Svalbard Social Science Initiative (SSSI).

 

Education

 

Patrizia did her PhD at University College London (UCL), Faculty for Mathematical & Physical Sciences, Institute for Risk and Disaster Reduction (IRDR) where she developed the concept of IDG.
