Sigita Struberga is a political scientist, educator, researcher, and strategic communication and resilence expert. Struberga’s areas of expertise, demonstrated through her comprehensive study and numerous publications, extend to resilience, crisis communication, and influence strategies, particularly concerning the Baltic region's interactions with Russia and China.

An active contributor to scholarly dialogue and policy development, Struberga has authored several publications that have impacted the field of resilience. These works demonstrate her proficiency in crafting policy recommendations that are grounded in scientific research and aimed at fortifying societal and institutional resilience. For example, one of such policy recommendations was a result of the #SecureBorders project, which, supported by NATO, aimed to enhance the resilience of local communities on the Eastern border regions in Latvia against emerging threats.

 

Professional experience

 

Currently heading the board at "Women for Security," Struberga holds the position of Secretary-General at the Latvian Transatlantic Organisation (LATO), coordinating multifaceted international relations and security forums, exemplifying her leadership in bridging gender perspectives with security measures. Struberga’s role as a consultant for media monitoring and educational projects across European and Asian institutions echoes her understanding of strategic communication’s role in international relations and security.

In the academic realm, Struberga's dedication to fostering future leaders in international relations is evident through her development and instruction of innovative courses on public diplomacy and strategic communication. Her teaching methodologies reflect a balance between theoretical knowledge and practical relevance, ensuring that her students are well-equipped to handle current and emerging challenges.

Renowned for her instructional skill, Struberga has been honored as “The Best Teacher of the Year 2019” by the University of Latvia. She has been selected as a Marcin Król Fellow at Visegrad Insight. Sigita Struberga's professional standing and contributions make her an asset for instructing, enhancing their understanding of resilience at micro and macro levels.

Dr. Sigita Struberga holds a PhD candidacy in political science from the University of Latvia, along with an MA degree and a BA degree in political science, both earned from the same institution.
