

Dr. Moshe Farchi

Dr. Moshe Farchi’s research focuses on psychological first aid and acute stress reactions, with particular attention to the SIX Cs model, which he developed. His work delves into resilience models, exploring the physiological and neurological aspects of resilience, as well as strategies for PTSD risk reduction and secondary traumatization. Dr. Farchi is also involved in the study of humanitarian aid, aiming to improve interventions and support for those affected by crises and trauma.
Professional experience
Dr. Moshe Farchi is the Head of the Social Work Department at Tel-Hai Academic College and founder of the Stress, Trauma, and Resilience Studies Program, which trains students to provide psychological first aid in emergencies. He developed the SIX Cs model (מעש"ה) for immediate assistance, recognized by the Supreme Council for Mental Health and used by various Israeli agencies, including the IDF and Israel Police. Dr. Farchi also created the MaAH model for effective resilience.
He received the 2014 Social Workers Association Award and the "Resilience Badge" for his work during security escalations in southern Israel. His research, published in international journals, focuses on protocols for emotional first aid. He is a member of the Emergency Readiness Consortium at the University of Haifa and an advisor to the National Security Council on gender-based decision-making in emergencies.
In his reserve role, Dr. Farchi serves as a Mental Health Officer (Lieutenant Colonel) and Deputy Chief Psychologist at the Home Front Command, implementing protocols across the IDF and security forces. He also leads the Resilience Team in the Golan Rescue Unit and is a volunteer paramedic with Magen David Adom and United Hatzalah. Dr. Farchi has led humanitarian psychosocial assistance missions with Natan and is the president and co-founder of the International Center for Functional Resilience, promoting the MaSHAV model both in Israel and internationally.
Education
Dr. Moshe Farchi holds a BA from the University of Haifa, School of Social Work (1987). He earned an M.A. in Public Health from Hebrew University Jerusalem, Faculty of Medicine, School of Public Health and Community Medicine (1992). He completed his Ph.D. at Bar-Ilan University, Faculty of Social Science, School of Social Work (2003).
